# About the Organization 

 Davenport-Perth Neighbourhood and Community Health Centre (DPNCHC) is a multi-service organization that provides a wide variety of health and health promotion programs and services for a diverse community.  The Family Support Worker will be responsible for the delivery of programs and services to young children, parents and caregivers that connect to the Growing Up Healthy Downtown Partnership (GUHD). These programs and services take place within the context of our Early Years Services and DPNCHC’s mission statement. 

# About the Position 

  •  Lead and facilitate EarlyON Child and Family Centre programs within a community development and health promotion framework;
  • Collaborate in the planning, development, implementation, assessments and evaluations of relevant early years activities and services;
  • Adapt and tailor programs to address the evolving needs of participants;
  • Provide support, information and referral to parents, caregivers and families;
  • Model and promote positive and constructive adult/child relationships;
  • Engage participants and the community in the planning, evaluation, and volunteering aspects of programming;
  • Interact in a constructive, collaborative and cooperative manner with all members of the staff team;
  • Provide effective leadership and support to student placements and volunteers;
  • Compile and provide statistical data and other information for written reports as required;
  • Assist in the timely and accurate collection and recording of data and statistics;
  • Maintain effective communication with relevant services and community partners;
  • Represent Davenport-Perth Neighbourhood Centre (DPNCHC) in relevant networks and committee meetings.

# Your Qualifications

 A minimum of 1 to 2 years of post-secondary education in Early Childhood Education, Social Work, Education, or a related field;

  • 1.5 to 2 years of experience working with young children (0 to 6), parents and caregivers in a community-based setting;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of early years best practice principles and family support;
  • Proven skills in program implementation, evaluation, and group facilitation;
  • Awareness and understanding of institutional and structural racism and bias, and their impact on underserved and underrepresented communities;
  • Knowledge of children with extra support needs and available community supports; 
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment; 
  • Ability to effectively monitor small program activity budgets/spending;
  • Experience working with and leading volunteers and student placements;
  • Must be able to work one evening per week and on occasional weekends;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and email applications;
  • Good writing and oral communication skills;
  • Familiarity with DPNCHC and related services and community organizations;
  • Ability to speak a second language is an asset.

 

Hourly Range: $21.990-$23.927 per hour, plus statutory benefits and Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP).  This position part of the bargaining unit.
