#The Alliance thanks everyone who attended the first virtual social prescribing conference of its kind in Ontario and across Canada!

Social Prescribing is a holistic approach to healthcare that combines social and medical models of health and wellness. It bridges the gap between clinical and social care by referring patients to local, non-clinical services chosen according to the client’s interests, goals, and gifts. These community-led, non-clinical services remove barriers to health equity while empowering clients to better manage their own health, develop new skills, and build connections with people who have similar interests and backgrounds. For more info about the Alliance’s ongoing work in social prescribing, learn more about our partnership with the Older Adult Centres’ Association of Ontario (OACAO) in the Links2Wellbeing project or check out our page on Social Prescribing.

For the first time, healthcare and community-based professionals across Canada came together to discuss successful practices in implementation, current challenges, and potential solutions for scaling up the national social prescribing movement on October 20, 2022 for this day-long virtual conference.

The event consisted of plenary, concurrent, and experiential sessions. Most importantly, it offered intersectoral networking opportunities to connect and collaborate with others passionate about embedding social prescribing into our health care system.

The Social Prescribing Conference is happened on October 20, 2022! Here's what the day looked like.
