Lunch 'n' Learn - Learning Health Systems within the Alliance and Beyond: Past, Present, and Future

 

Over the last two years, the Alliance has matured tremendously as a learning health system. More members are participating; we're collaborating in new ways with more partners; and our reach and influence are growing. As new practice-based learning and research networks emerge - such as POPLAR and the SPOR PBRN. As health system data becomes increasingly integrated, we can see a bright horizon ahead.

This Lunch 'n' Learn webinar, held on September 16, 2022, describes the past, present and future of the Alliance as a learning health system, and as a key facilitator in the creation of provincial and national learning health systems. Our panelists provided an update on the progress of our learning health system, and they engaged the audience in a discussion of next steps and how Alliance members can benefit from being part of it.

	Dr. Danielle M Nash is a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Epidemiology & Biostatistics and the Centre for Studies in Family Medicine at Western University. She is also a Senior Epidemiologist at ICES. Her Post-Doctoral research focuses on Learning Health Systems in primary care.
	Dr. Jennifer Rayner is the Director of Research and Evaluation at the Alliance for Healthier Communities. She is an Adjunct Professor at the Centre for Studies in Family Medicine at Western University and an Associate Professor at the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation at University of Toronto.
	Lorri Zagar is a Quality Improvement Advisor with two decades of experience working with healthcare and social service stakeholders in Ontario. She was involved with the planning and redesign of the Alliance as a Learning Health System.
	Dr. Merrick Zwarenstein is a Professor in the Centre for Studies in Family Medicine and Department of Epidemiology & Biostatistics at Western University. He is an ICES Scientist and health services researcher focusing on randomized trials of healthcare improvements within usual care, such as the Alliance Learning Health System.
